After one week in Luang Prabang, it’s time to present you our guesthouse: the Pongkham Residence. Also, I want to give you a glance over what’s happening over the next days and weeks.

Pongkham Residence

Pongkham Residence

Pongkham Residence is located in the west of Luang Prabang, about five minutes by bike from the city centre. It’s a beautiful and quiet guesthouse, consisting of eight rooms. Four, as well as ours, are located on the ground floor and feature a small terrace, while the other four on the top level have nice balconies. All guestrooms are equipped with two beds or one double bed, a bathroom with a shower and a small desk as well as a TV, a fridge, aircon and ventilators. Furthermore the rooms are very clean and daily housekeeping ensures it stays like that.

Guests share a kitchen including everything you need to cook and eat, a dining area and excellent bikes to get around in town. In addition, there’s free Wifi available on the whole area which is working quite reliable for local conditions. The family running the residence is very friendly and helpful. Everybody speaks good english and we really felt welcome from the first moment.

So if you plan to go to Luang Prabang, we can definitly recommend you this residence. Even if it might be not the cheapest in town, the good quality of the rooms, the existence of a cooking facility to reduce your living costs and the free bikes make it worth it. The future

Let me tell you a bit about what is happening soon. This weekend, in addition to one of multiple boat races, there is a very important festival taking place here: the “Lai Heua Fai” festival. Also called “the festival of light”, you can already see many people in the streets preparing for this event, where they will celebrate the end of the rainy season and beginning of the dry season. Of course, we will be there to take pictures, maybe even videos and tell you about this amazing piece of local culture. Also, we are preparing our first video which will give you a short overview of the most important places and sights of Luang Prabang. We hope, you’ll stay tuned!
